Malaysia and Singapore!

MALAYSIA!
Mosque in Georgetown
Malaysia is an interesting country. It was colonized by several different countries and is 1/3 Malay, 1/3 Indian and 1/3 Chinese. The predominant religion is Islam, followed by Hinduism and Buddhism,
My favorite Indian food: Tandoori chicken and Naan bread
The Tandoori oven
Wow...no trespassing here!

Muslim school crossing

Crossing into the jungle!

Colonial style homes in Malaysia

Ferngully anyone?

We each choose a jungle animal that we loved! And consequently can also be found in the jungles we were in!
Lindsay = Monkey
Sarah = Tiger
Wendy = Elephant

Lindsay's super cool camera that can pull one color for the shot

Tea plantations up in the highlands

Kuala Lumpur...the capital of Malaysia
Monkeys just relaxing out at the entrance to the Batu Caves...a Hindu place of worship just outside of KL
Cute Hindu family coming to worship at the temples and statues inside the caves

Who can resist a monkey face like that?
The stairs of death to get to the caves

More stairs inside the caves
Who's the poor guy under the gods foot?

Standing inside the Batu Caves
Hmmmm...

Entrance to the Batu Caves

Oldest Mosque in KL

Required getup for all ladies wanting to walk around the Mosques
Local Gap ad for chic Muslims? I think yes
Lindsay was tired!
Where do we go from here?
It was a miracle that we found the small branch that meets in KL...and took the Lord prompting a foreign woman in her car to stop and ask us where we needed to go after getting conflicting answers from the locals. The Lord answers prayers...because I really wanted to go to church.
I LOVE Indian food! We ate it every day the entire time we were in Malaysia!
Petronas twin towers
They made us watch this cheesy video about Petronas before they let us up the skybridge.
How long can we look around? Take all the time you need....in 15 minutes.
Random Malay man that jumped in our picture...followed by his friends...one of which who may or may not have intentionally let his hand slide over my rearski...that darn backpack WAS in the way!
Petronas towers at night! Gorgeous!
We traveled south to the first main city in Malaysia called Melaka. It was colonized by several countries and you can see it in the architecture.
Mosque in Melaka.
I think it's stuck!

Dutch church built in the 1600's
May she rest in peace...
Jonker...nuf said!
Did I mention how much I love Naan?!!!!

This is an amusement park up in the Genting Highlands about two hours from KL- it was really gorgeous- colorful- and we froze- forgetting to bring jackets up to the mountain top (we were sweating down in KL).
They made us wear these under the helmets to ride the go-carts. We also had to forgo secure chacos to put on nasty, sweaty slippers.
Lindsay was not impressed with her small scoop of mashed potatoes.
Burger King in Malaysia = lame! Just stick to the delicious Indian food.
They don't have snow so they built their own winter wonderland where you could rent snow gear and play in fake snow.

Welcome to Singapore! It is basically an urban jungle! Singapore is so small that there is not much to do but shop...at least that is what one Singaporian told us! We did manage to make it to the Singapore Zoo- which was really cool!
That's right- there is NO kissing in Singapore...or at least not on our bus out of Singapore back into Malaysia!
The Singapore Zoo is really cool for all you zoo nerds out there (I am one among you). They don't believe in walls but try most of the time to use moats. The monkeys-should they choose to- could swing down right to where you are. I loved this Zoo! It was very beautiful, and we happened to see a lot of the animals around snack time which was fun!
The zoo was like a jungle...with paved streets
Tigers are the COOLEST!
The Otters were really excited for snack time
I love tigers!
We are going HOME!
YAY- Time to come home! God bless America!
Wow- after 7 months in Asia, I may or may not have made a few snorting sounds when my mouth would fall open! Gotta love snoozing upright!
